Lucky!

This morning as I went to the gym, I thought a branch was in front of my car... well the high winds in the area ended up with this.

This mornings weigh in continues to chisel the weight away to 217.6.   I'm ready to refeed after my workout!

Continuing progress

The scale continued to show that these rolling 48 hrs fasts,  then a refeed are working.  Today's weigh in was 220.2.  For me this isn't a shock,  but what I like about these 48 hour fasts is that it basically reduces my calories per week... so I'm not an eating fatty lol.  I was originally trying to eat M-W-F, as I lift T-Th-S, but I realized that if I do that,  that is an additional 1800-2k calories per week so... I decided to eat T- Th reducing my weekly caloric count,  forcing me in a deficit.   I wanted to leave the weekends open so I can spend with my family and friends.  I follow a keto diet currently.   Its much easier to control my potbelly sugar cookie addiction.

Here I am at my local gym... I have not been ay my peak energy here, but eased up on my weight and hit the elliptical for 20 minutes.   I could feel a little drained today.  Don't mind my hair lol

Posted my pictures

I finally was able to post my pictures to the motivation  group on Facebook today.  In the afternoon I heard from Cole and based on his response he wants accountability.  I'm sure he hears this all the time, but I'm all in.  The biggest reason is that I have been fasting and I know it works, but I was still fat and most likely seeing people succeed with rolling 48-72 hr fasts that creates the calorie deficit.  He mentions how electrolytes are important and of course he's right.   Most likely in the past,  all with good intentions, but I was still overeating.   Stop eating fatty!

I'm trying to get at least 6 hours of sleep per night, but today I was drowsy! I napped in my car at lunch for an hour, fell asleep watching BioLayne on YouTube videos for about 30 minutes,  and crashed hard after basketball practice tonight with my older son.   I was reminded that fasting, burning fat, requires sleep!  Listen to your body.

These pictures were taken on Monday.

72 hour fast?

Had a good workout this morning fasted.  Wonder if I can push a 72 hr fast.    Weigh in of 223.7.

I decided to end fast at 48hrs as I was listening to my body and I did feel like I had to refeed.

Back from Geneva

Plan was to eat when I got home today as I was going to IF, but my family saved me a breakfast taco. Typically, I would say no or I would have a serving with no tortilla and sour cream and habenero sauce, but I said hell with it... I worked out all weekend, had 17k steps yesterday and already ran 1.5 miles today and walked SLOW for 20 minutes today.  Besides tomorrow is the real start to the back to back 48 hour fasts with Snake Juice.  All weekend, when everyone was sleeping I was watching Cole's videos over and over again.  I know what I need to do, but I am a little confused on fresh water and I sent him a message last night.  The biggest question I have is can I drink fresh water or do I have to drink  snake juice on non-fasting days?  Yesterday I lifted at a local Anytime Fitness and before I left I had a few sips of snake juice.  In the past I would drink a glass of water before and after, but I keep thinking about what Cole said about over drinking water and I am 100% sure that is me.  I will say that during my last 48 hour fast, I could tell I felt so much better and was not bloated since incorporating snake juice.  This weekend I had snake juice at my disposal and sipped on 1 L all day yesterday here and there.  I ran and walked today for a total of 40  minutes and I just drank what I needed about 1 L.  I am going to prep some in the morning when I get up for the gym to have with me just in case I need it, actually maybe tonight.  i think I need some.  I also heard back from Cole today and will talk more about that tomorrow.  STOP EATING FATTY!

Cole Robinson's Snake Juice - NoSalt, Salt, and baking soda...

I spent the last few days researching how to make and I'm a little confused.  There are a few videos that have different ratios.  Day 1 was yesterday and I used a ratio of 1L of water, 1 tsp No Salt, 1 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp of baking soda, a splash of lemon juice and 2 eye droppers of Stevia.  It wasn't so bad, but I drank it when I was hungry yesterday and today for this 48 hour fast.  Yesterday I had a little less than 3L of snake juice, but when I brought a teaspoon with me I realized I probably totaled about 1 tsp potassium,  1 tsp salt, 1 tsp basking soda and 3L's of water.  Each liter had 2 full eye droppers of stevia.  Today was not as bad as yesterday as I wasn't sure if I could do back to back fasting, but I did it.  I actually debated to extend to tomorrow as Cole suggested, but I have been cooking a lot of raw food before we leave so it won't go bad, but all I keep hearing in my mind is Cole yelling, "Hey Fatty!  Stop Eating!!!!"  I am at loss... I cooked 3 chicken thighs, 3 chicken breasts, 3 racks of ribs, and my wife cooked 2 lbs of ground turkey breast the other day and we have a ton of food THAT I CAN'T EAT FATTY!  I decided to break my fast tonight with 3 ribs, 2 thighs, almonds, peppitas, raw sunflower seed, parmesan, but I tried to eat OMAD and ate about 500 calories every hour.  I was trying to eat smaller meals as Cole stated, but hit my calories of about 1620, (9g/ lean pound of muscle).  Success.  I am going to try to not over do things this weekend with food.  Off for the weekend, ciao!

Cole Robinson, Snake Juice, Stop Eating Fatty... Decisions... ugh.

When you are on a fast, you don't eat... therefore lunch becomes more of a what do I have on my list today.  This week we are prepping for this weekend get away to Lake Geneva, WI for my son's 13th birthday weekend.  During the day at work I have been listening to anything I can find by Cole Robinson and the snake diet.  Typically I lift Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and can lift on 24 to 72 hour fasts, but reading a few of Cole's Youtube comments I see people completing 48 hr fasts, refeeds, and then another 24 hr fasts until goal weight and this is really intriguing me.  I think I am going to refeed tonight and start another 48 hour fast through Friday.  I need to start searching for NoSalt for potassium and I have plenty of Himalayan salt.  I have lemon juice already and will add some Stevia for sweetener.  The problem.. Cole says NO SWEETENERS, but I have a sweet tooth and I am going to have to give up my diet Dr. Pepper and/ or Diet Coke.  More thinking to do...

2021 Finishing the Year Strong...

SW: 231

Everyone has a story...  It's amazing that this blog was started 10 years ago and has been dormant now for about 7 1/2 years.  Since the has been dormant, social media has taken off and we all know that.  I'm not a social media fanatic anymore with all the cookies, tracking, etc, but I love the information out there from others.  A few years back I was not in a good place... I was laid off from two separate jobs and at this point the money well was drying up.  I was questioning a lot.  I will get into that another day in a different blog post.

I have learned a lot from Thomas Delauer, Dr. Berg, and even Dr. Mindy Pelz.  At times however I would question certain things that were discussed, but all these mentors I hold in high regard as they got me to where I am today even though I wasn't always in agreement.  I have learned about Keto, learned in the last few years about fasting, and up until today follow a 5-1-1 protocol of  5 Days intermittent fasting, 1 open day, and 1 24 hours fast.  Typically this is Keto.  Every 3 months I started incorporating 48-72 hours fasts.  Since I found keto, I have been able to hit 199! ONCE.  I have never seen it again... I loosened up a little, well, a lot. I was typically about 210-215.  In the last month I have really loosened up with some business trips, then came thanksgiving... and here I am today at 231 and BLOATED.  I'm not panicking, but in the last few weeks a co-worker I have met says... you do all this stuff and well you would think you would be in better shape.  He's right.  Longer story short... Podcasts, Rogan, The Hill, Rogan, Breaking Points, Rogan, Mark Bell's Power Project and listened to Ep. 622 Can you Perform At a High-level On Keto/ Low Carb? - Response with a reference to Cole Robinson.. who?  How have I never heard of him?  Been on the show before and need to find him... find MBPP Rp. 242 - Snake Diet Founder Cole Robinson as I am in the middle of a 48 hour fast.  Hmmm... abrasive, not sure he's all that, but I was intrigued.  The more I listen to him, the more I have to say, I think he is on to something.  I need to get past this week for my older son's 13th birthday and watch more videos.  "HEY FATTY!  STOP EATING!"

I still live...

Barely.  I kid.  I have had a rough few months but just got the go ahead from the doctor a few weeks ago to get back in the gym.  Feeling good to be back, but not without adding a few pounds from loosening up the diet.  Glad to be back.

C4W7D2 1/1/2013 Happy New Year!

First of all, happy new year to all!  As I mentioned before, I had a derailment in my challenge, but  my head is back on straight and will continue starting this week to finish the second half of the challenge.  To make a long story short, we suffered a miscarriage, which is never easy, but we are okay.  We have two beautiful children to be thankful for and who keep us on out feet.  The miscarriage I think effected me more than my wife.  I was excited about adding a third and everything closed in around me when I got the news.  Unfortunately, I was out of town on business when it happened and was disappointed that I could not be there immediately to support my wife.  We had my sons family birthday party and hosted Christmas so we have been extremely busy that I chose to let working out sit on the back burner, but tried to keep nutrition somewhat on par.  I wasn't 100% and I only got about 2-3 cardio/ lifting sessions total per week.  New years has come and gone and with some time off of work and focusing on the family the last few weeks has been good for my soul and rest for my body, but it is time to take the remainder of my challenge seriously.  I have struggled in dedication in my one year celebration challenge, but it's for life and you have to make it work.  Bumps happen and it surely doesn't have to stop or make you quit or feel as you failed.  Just pick up where you left off.

C4W4D6 Another hurdle

What started as a routine week has turned into an unexpected week.  I'll explain in my weekly summary.  This week nutritionally has been about 70/30 healthy and today Saturday was my first workout of the week doing lower body.  I will be piggy backing tomorrow with another lifting session but for upper body and continue on to week 5.

C4W3D4 Back home

Long day in New Orleans, but made my trek back to Chicago this evening.  After spending some time with my family, I snuck out to the gym.  Had a good workout with some new highs on biceps and  shoulders.  I know have been home for about an hour and just stuffed down my shrimp and bread, time to hit the sack.  Not sure if I'll be able to hit cardio in the morning before work, as I need some rest.

C4W3D3

Today was a long day and I stayed out later than necessary.  Although I had every intention of running on the treadmill, I fell asleep after I had changed and laid down in my hotel room.

C4W3D2 French Quarter

I'm in New Orleans for business and didn't have a chance to work out until late tonight.  I had to change my workout yo a dumbbell based lowers leg workout to get through it here.  I had been doing great with no alcohol, but did have a few glasses of wine at our business dinner.  Disappointed I gave in, but at least it wasn't beer.

Cardio did not happen.  My pinched nerve has been bothering me all night and day and hoped that by tonight it would feel better, but no luck.

C4W2D7 Week 2 Summary

Not a good week for me.  Nutrition was horrible at least one meal during the second half of the week blew my calorie count.  Need to get my head on straight...

C4W2D6 Glad to be home

We made our trek back home from the Dells today and stopped at The House On the Rock on the way back interesting place.  After the family passed out, I managed to hit the gym and have a decent workout.  All day I had a little sharp pain in my lower back like a pinched nerve and I think driving and having to tote around my 15 month old through the house in the rock didn't help.  Hopefully, it won't get worse than it is, because this will aggravate more with running.

C4W2D5 Bump after bump...

Another day without a true workout, but kept the moderate cardio going at the water park.  Again my nutrition ruined by one meal... again the quesadillas.   I'm not panicking here, this is a hurdle that I must face and get over and just get back on track.  It's everyday life and I need to fix it for my body for life.  I need to get back home and get a grip.

C4W2D4

Well the food news is I found the fitness center and got a full run cardio session in.  The bad news... they had no weights what so ever.  My original plan was to just go through my lower workout exercises with my body weight , but that didn't happen.  We got back to the room and basically crashed.  Its a good thing I could keep up with my three year old going up the stairs and ramps to the slides over and over again .  I never walked or ran them, but kept a good pace that I could feel it... but I wish I had the stamina of my son lol.  I was definitely what I would consider additional moderate cardio burning some calories.

The bad part about my nutrition is that I have not done my 5-6 meals yesterday or today.  One meal each day blew my day big time.  They could have been healthy , but I was weak.  Yesterday lunch was a late breakfast and I had steak and eggs, but couldn't resist the unhealthy carbs.  Then that night, was lasagna and I had more that my share and didn't even cook my protein like I was supposed to.  Then today I had ground turkey and rice, but splurged on the quesadillas that were not on my program.  Needless to say this week, my second is not going well nutritionally.  I med to get back on track.

C4W2D2

Another late night workout, had a new high on dumbbell bench press and shoulder press.  I hit the 90 lb set for bench and peaked at 50lb set on shoulders, so happy.  I had a tweak in my right shoulder over the weekend and was worried about tonights workout.  Everything went well except my superset on chest with dumbbell flys.  I'll probably have to go lighter my next workout as to not hurt it to the point I can lift any other exercises.
